We were working in a prison tying to make a documentary about prison life, when we came across this small Barbers Shop on the edge, near the fence. Inside we discovered lots of chat, insight and thoughts. We worked with the prisoners to recorded what was happening and to make this film. The project has been screened in the UK and internationally at film festivals including Atlantic International Film Festival Canada, Silk Road Film Festival Dublin and the BFI Future Film Festival London.
The project was commissioned by the BFI's Into Film fund. We love making documentaries in this way and believe that more people should be empowered to tell their own stories and use film to express themselves.
