The Youth Voice & Influence Service, Community Youth Services at Sheffield City Council facilitate a group called SENDing Voices. The group are young people with SEND  (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) aged 13-24yrs of age.  They meet fortnightly to actively participate in shaping provision, practices, policies, and decisions that affect them.

The group have recently teamed with My Pockets to coproduce five animation films on the following subjects:

Communication - Inclusion - Independence - Transitions - Acceptance

They have written the scripts and created all the voice overs. They have also created a resource pack that will run alongside each film. The aim of the film series is to aid educators to understand how young people with SEND would like to be communicated with.  Watch the films here.
The young people who are a part of Sending Voices would like to say -
‘’We are a group of young people age 13-24 years with special educational needs and disabilities who come together and meet fortnightly to be part of an action group called “SENDing Voices”. This is a place for us to have our say on issues that we are passionate about for example education. We have made five animation films on topics that we have all had various experiences in – positive & negative and would like to share with you the difficulties young people with SEND have on a daily basis whilst attending schools/colleges. We hope you will watch, share, and act, as we have worked very hard and are very proud to produce these with My Pockets.
Thank you from all of us at SENDing Voices’’
